چکیده
Ann. Entomol. Soc. Am. 86(1): 68-79 (1993) ABSTRACT Aciurina thoracica Curran forms galls on branches of at least three species of Baccharis in southern California. The egg, second and third instars, and puparium obtained from B. sarothroides Gray are described and illustrated. Aciurina thoracica's median oral lobe is described and illustrated. The egg is inserted singly into branch tips of B. sarothroides in early spring. Gall and larval growth continue through summer and fall, and pupariation occurs in early winter. Adults emerge in late winter or early spring, mate, and oviposit into newly forming branch tips. Adult behavior including courtship and copulation is described and compared with other Aciurina species. Principal hymenopter ous natural enemies of A. thoracica include two solitary, primary endoparasitoids, Dinar mus sp. (Pteromalidae) and Eurytoma sp. (Eurytomidae); two solitary primary ectopara sitoids, Pteromalus sp. and Mesopolobus sp. (Pteromalidae); and Eupelmus spp. (Eupelmidae) reared as solitary, primary endoand ectoparasitoids.

متن کاملSYSTEMATICS, MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY Morphology of Immature Stages in the Neotropical Nonfrugivorous Tephritinae Fruit Fly Species Rachiptera limbata Bigot (Diptera: Tephritidae) on Baccharis linearis (R. et Pav.) (Asteraceae)
Rachiptera limbata Bigot develops on Baccharis linearis (R. et Pav.) in the areas around Santiago, Chile. The larvae feed on stem tissues and secrete a liquid that hardens to form a protective feeding and pupation chamber. The immature stages of Neotropical species of Tephritinae are poorly known. In this paper, the morphology of the immature stages of R. limbata are described and compared, in ...

Ann. Entomol. Soc. Am. 83(2): 220-229 (1990) ABSTRACT Descriptions are provided of the egg, larvae, and puparium of Paracantha gentilis Hering, a native, stenophagous tephritid which infests the capitula of thistles. Detailed examination of larvae led to the discovery of a median oral lobe between the mouth hooks. This is the first structure of this kind described for Tephritidae. Two sensory s...
